Onboarding – just a few clicks away
Feature
Across the maritime sector, digitalisation is increasingly being used to enhance the efficiency of vessels and make businesses run smoother.
“We have moved from manual to digital when we onboard shipowners’ vessels to our pools,” says Ditte Michele Stensig, Partner Manager at Maersk Tankers.
Until recently, shipowners had to navigate multiple e-mails, numerous attachments and Excel spreadsheets when onboarding their vessels to the company’s pools.
Today, a different picture is emerging. Using the first phase of the digital solution, VesselTruth, shipowners can onboard their vessels in just a few clicks in one central database. The shipowner uploads information about the vessel into the system and can then monitor the onboarding process continuously, ensuring the owner at any time knows what is happening to his vessel.
“We are making it easier to partner with us,” says Ditte and adds that the company is looking at further digital developments to improve its services to shipowners.
Maersk Tankers is also using extensive data and digital solutions to improve the efficiency and utilisation of the global fleet under its management to cut costs and emissions.
