Our Crude Fleet
Maersk Tankers has a fleet of 15 modern double hull VLCCs trading world wide with main trades being Arabian Gulf East West and West Africa East West. We have a substantial newbuilding program with seven vessels on order in Japan and Korea for delivery between 2011 and 2013.
Three of our new builds will have a waste heat recovery system installed to generate electricity from the heat in the exhaust from the main engine. In this way excess heat is put to use replacing power generation for e.g. the accommodation on the vessel.
The expected fuel savings from use of this technology is around 5%. In addition the vessels will have more efficient fuel consumption at varying speeds (more than 1% fuel consumption reduction).
